Sam was sitting in the living room laughing hysterically at presumably nothing. (He does this frequently – He has something going through his mind that he finds hilarious)

Sam then came to me and said: Do you know what is really funny?

Me: What?

Sam: A beaver with a chainsaw.

Me: What would a beaver do with a chainsaw.

Sam: Chop down random trees and people and a squirrel.

Me: Why would he chop down people and a squirrel.

Sam: Because beavers don’t know how to use chainsaws. (Then he walked off laughing)

Sam: Mom, can I tell you something about the ocean?

Me: Sure.

Sam: It kind of sounds like a legend.

Me: OK

Sam: I am not sure if it is true or not because it might be a legend.

Me: I would like to hear it though.

Sam: (as he is walking away) OK. UM. OK. I um am going to go pee cause I have to go really bad.

(And off he goes)

He finally came back.

Sam: I don’t think it is a legend but it could be. There are 3 parts to the ocean. The sunlight zone, the twilight zone and the midnight zone. The midnight is twice the size of the other two zones. Mom do you know what a draco is?

Me: Is it a lizard?

Sam:  Yes, yes it is.  It is known for gliding.

(And he is off again)

Sam: Dad, did you take baths in the 60’s?

Scot: Why yes I did Sam?

Sam: Is that the past?

Scot: Yes that is the past. I was born in 1965.

Sam: Are you really old then?

Scot: It depends on who you ask.

Sam: What do you think?

Scot: Well in a little over 2 years I will be 50 and that seems old, but I am not there yet.

Sam then started talking about cats and parachutes and wandered off.

Scot:  (to me)  Gotta love that autistic little mind of his…You know, I was feeling pretty good about myself before this whole conversation started!

Sam: You know, sometimes when people sleep, it looks like they’re dead.
